This Halcyon 27 had been sat on a mooring for 3 years with only the occasional dived scrub down. Once the majority of the mussels were jetwashed off, much scraping and sanding was required to get through the layers of growth. The hull, rudder, and prop were taken back to solid primer before a binding primer was applied. This was sanded and finished with International antifoul.

P-bracket repair

This p-bracket had suffered from osmosis and was pumping water, causing high vibration when the boat was under power by engine. The polyester GRP was taken back evenly, before the wetted glass was grinded out. The joint was then faired with West Systems high density epoxy filler, before receiving three layers of heavy biaxial cloth to build up strength across the protrusion. Peel ply was applied for an even finish, which was finished with West Systems low density epoxy filler. Sanded and faired, this was then treated with 5 layers of International Gelshield 200 ready for antifoul system.

This transom was treated to a sand-back and a single pack polyurethane paint, followed by a new ladder and hydrovane install. This second-hand hydrovane was not entirely designed for this boat, however, this was enabled with a custom stay system to support weight up high. The forming of the supporting transom pads via sanding took a while with such voluptuous curves!

This client had accidently overfilled their engine with engine oil. This resulted in a significant oil leak due to overpressure out of the fuel lift pump. In a very remote anchorage, I diagnosed the issue, and created a templated gasket from spare card gasket material I had available. I recommended this was changed when the official Beta Marine part came available... he let me know 3 months later that it was still functioning as intended!
